This section highlights organizations working on UDL projects in the MENA region.
DevTech Systems is currently working in Morocco to develop teacher education for teachers of the Deaf through a UDL approach while World Learning is working in Algeria on implementing a UDL approach to STEM education. Cast, on the other hand, is where UDL was born and it was undoubtedly necessary to include it in this section

CAST, founded in 1984, is a non-profit education research and development organization with the goal to “bust the barriers to learning that millions of people experience every day” (CAST 2022). CAST created the framework of Universal Design for Learning and its guidelines to ensure inclusive learning for all students.
CAST worked on different projects including UDL credentials and certification for educators, inclusive literacy in schools, barrier-free flexible curriculum for learners in the correction systems, and more.

DevTech Systems is a developmental agency that started its work in different sectors including education for 37 years now. DevTech systems aim to promote safe, inclusive, and effective learning environments in partnership with government leaders and international agencies to expand opportunities in education and training (DevTech Systems 2022).
In 2021, DevTech Systems in partnership with USAID started working on inclusive education and teacher training to improve the quality of education for children and youth who are Deaf in Morocco (DevTech Systems 2021).

World Learning has been working for more than 85 years in different fields including education “to enhance the capacity and commitment of individuals, institutions, and communities to create a more peaceful and just world through education, sustainable development, and exchange” (World Learning 2022).
For the past 3 years, World Learning Algeria has worked with UDL to reduce barriers in STEM education. In February 2022, they partnered with the international inclusive education advocates to publish a white paper on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) towards practice-based recommendations on the implementation of UDL.
